For many years, Black & Decker has been a top choice when it comes to power tools and accessories that can prove to be functional for a variety of DIY tasks.
Of course, it cannot also be discounted that the company is famous when it comes to lawn and gardening care products, including string trimmers.
The manufacturer currently offers 17 different models of grass trimmers, 7 of them are corded, and 10 models are cordless. Black&Decker cordless string trimmers are powered by batteries ranging from 18 to 40 volts.
Black & Decker is making only electric string trimmers, just like its competitor Worx. This offers the benefit of delivering the reliable source of power while making sure that it does not cause air pollution and noise.
In comparison, the gas powered weed eaters usually are loud and emit carbon dioxide, which makes them not exactly environmentally friendly.

Common Features of Black+Decker Trimmers
If there is one thing that many people liked about Black+Decker electric weed eaters, it would be the fact that they are as versatile as many of the models can do more than just one function.
Many Black and Decker weed eater models are easily converted from trimmer to edger. No tools are needed as you can do just by turning the shaft. I have reviewed one of these models in my MTC220/MTE921 review.
B&D offers gardening combo toolkits. For instance, the LCC420 kit consists of weed eater and sweeper, but in the LC3K220 kit, the string trimmer is bundled with hedge trimmer and sweeper.
Automatic Feed Spool System
This is one of the unique and innovative features that one can find in Black&Decker grass trimmers. Generally speaking, this offers the benefit of allowing you to work continuously, even if there are bumps or rocks in the area where you are trimming. Through the use of centrifugal force, the line is dispensed when it is needed the most for better predictability and increased reliability. This is also beneficial because it causes less wear and tear as there will be no bumping.
The telescopic shaft that is found in many Black+Decker weed whacker models can be considered as being beneficial when it comes to versatility. This will make it possible for you to adjust the length of the shaft based on individual requirements. This will make trimming effortless and will also promote better posture when gardening, and hence, lessen the fatigue that can be felt.
This is an innovative feature that is exclusive to this brand. PowerDrive Transmission is all about the delivery of more torque from the motor to the cutting string. In turn, this will allow you to be done with the trimming job in no time.
Popular Weed Wacker Models
The robust performance of this versatile gardening tool can be attributed to its 40-Volt MAX lithium ion batteries. The battery can be charged in as quickly as just one hour, and many people also liked that it can be removed from the unit in just a single click.
The PowerDrive transmission of this model is another feature that gives it an edge above other models in the product category. It comes with a dial that will allow you to quickly select the speed that is desired based on what is required by the job. To enable you to tackle thicker weeds, the maximum power that can be set is at 8,500 RPM.

ST7700 String Trimmer and Edger
One of the cheapest models in the lineup. This corded Black & Decker weed wacker derives its power from the 4.4-amp motor that delivers a reliable speed of up to 10,000 RPM. This makes it sturdy enough to function effortlessly even if the grass has already overgrown.
Other features of this string trimmer include having 13-inch cutting width, 180-degree rotating head to easily convert into an edger, and Automatic Feeding Spool design. It also comes with an auxiliary handle that makes it easier and more comfortable to hold.
- 13” cutting path
- Weights only 4.5 lbs
- Edging function
ST1000 Grass Trimmer
The cheapest B&D trimmer. This is the perfect corded weed eater if you want one that will be used for light-duty tasks or smaller gardens.
Powered by a 1.8-amp motor, you might find this to be not ideal if you are going to handle more demanding tasks as the power of the engine is minimal.
Once taken out of the box, you need to follow two simple steps before you can finish the process of assembly. However, one problem that is noted by users is that the materials look flimsy and cheap, making them not able to withstand prolonged use.
- 9” cutting path
- Weights 3.2 lbs
